May 06, 2017 Enter the passcode into iTunes. Now open iTunes on your Mac (or PC). You’ll notice a small Remote icon in the top left of the menu bar, just below the playback controls: Connect to a remote in iTunes (this should only be necessary once). Set up your Apple TV and the Remote app
First, set up the Remote app:

- Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD: Go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote app, then select your Apple Watch.

- On your Apple TV, enter the passcode that appears on your Apple Watch. When the pairing icon appears next to your Apple Watch, you can start controlling your Apple TV.
Control your Apple TV
After you set up the Remote app, you can control your Apple TV. Make sure that your Apple TV is awake, open Remote on your Apple Watch, choose your Apple TV, then use these gestures:
- Swipe up, down, left, or right to move through the Apple TV menu.
- Tap to choose a highlighted item.
- Tap Menu to go back, or touch and hold it to go to the Home screen.
- Tap to pause or resume playback.
Set up iTunes and the Remote app
First, set up the Remote app:
- Make sure that your computer and your Apple Watch are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- On your Apple Watch, open the Remote app, then tap Add Device.
- In iTunes on your computer, click . appears after you click Add Device and your remote tries to connect.
- On your computer, enter the 4-digit code that appears on your Apple Watch.
Control iTunes
After you set up the Remote app, choose an iTunes library and control your music from your watch:
- If you have only one library, start playing your music. If you have more than one library, tap the library that you want to listen to on your watch. If you’re already playing music, tap , then tap a library.
- To play or pause your music, or to go to the previous or next track, use the controls in Remote.
- To change the volume, turn the Digital Crown.

Upgrade your iTunes library

If you open the Apple Podcasts app or Apple Books app first, you won't see any of your media until you open the Apple Music app or Apple TV app.
Here are some things to know
- The Apple Music app and Apple TV app read the contents of your iTunes library — so don't delete your iTunes library.
- If you open the Apple Music app and don't see all of your album artwork, leave the Apple Music app open so your album artwork can finish downloading.
- If you previously used multiple iTunes libraries, your audiobooks are imported in to the Apple Books library and podcasts are imported in to the Apple Podcasts library on your computer.

The Apple Music app is where you can find all of your music, including music that you imported in to iTunes, purchased from the iTunes Store, and playlists and smart playlists that you created in iTunes. And if you subscribe to Apple Music, you can stream and download millions of songs, and access your entire music library across all of your devices.

- Open the Apple Music app.
- In the menu bar, choose Music > Preferences.
- Go to the General tab and select iTunes Store.
- Click OK.
